straight talk will not activiate a verizon phone that they do not sell. you can only use the phone
on straight talks AT&T/ Tmoibile sim only.

Verizon does not use SIM cards for CDMA service. It uses SIM cards for LTE service, which is not supported on Straight Talk.

Does this mean that any Galaxy S3 purchased through a contract with Verizon will not have a place to put the AT&T SIM card for using Straight Talk?

Correct. Although Verizon 4G LTE phones do take sim cards now, their phones run on a different frequency. They do not have GSM built into the phones, therefore they will be unable to run on AT&T's 1900Mhz frequency band for example. If you were to use a Straight Talk AT&T sim card, it would not work in Verizon.
